About

I am a cinematographer and filmmaker based in Melbourne, Australia.

I first picked up a video camera as a young teen in the 90’s after taping Robocop (1986) off late-night SBS on an old VCR combo. This inspired several short films (that are now lost or taped over), replicating and reimagining shots and scenes from 80’s and 90’s movies with mates in the abandoned industrial estate and bushland near my childhood home in Tassie. I distinctly recall producing another short film in my youth titled ‘The Metal Spear‘, inspired by the LOTR trilogy and Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid. A truly wild marriage of two vastly different influences. I wish I knew where that tape ended up!

I shot and produced a number of highly acclaimed BMX videos in the mid 2000’s, featuring some of Australia’s best riders, while making regular comedy shorts, documentaries and corporate work to hone my craft, maintaining a keen interest in still photography throughout this time. I went on to spend a lot of my 20’s and early 30’s writing and shooting sketch comedy, music videos, web series’, high-end corporate and doco-style work, including key DP for Laura Imbruglia’s variety show Amateur Hour (2015-2017), alongside some of Australia’s most loved musicians and larrikins.

Now in my mid 30’s, I’m steering my career toward narrative drama and commercial work. Recently, I have DP’d an indie feature and several short films, including one of my own, Sticky Note, aiming to hit festival screens in 2025.

A student for life, I love sharing my passion for cinematography, moonlighting regularly as a tertiary lecturer in cinematography and post-production, and often mentor film students on set.
